On a perfect fall evening in Portville the host Panthers continued their dominate play as they defeated the previously unbeaten Ellicottville Eagles 4-1 on Thursday night.  The game started as most have for the Panthers with Portville using precise passing and a relentless attack to dominate play on the Eagles side of the field.  It took less than tree minutes for them to break through as Ashley Carls drilled home the opening score.  Then, just six minutes later Gianna Aloi scored the eventual game winner on a beautiful play.  Portville added a third goal of the half when Grace Gariepy took a nice pass from Aloi to make the score 3-0 at the half.

Portville used the same winning formula they have all season, dominate play in their offensive end and play solid, disciplined defense when its needed.  Portville Goalkeeper Bella Morales was again solid in goal when she needed to be as she stopped 3 of the 4 shots she faced.  The only goal she gave up was on a direct kick from the Eagles Drew Ficek at the 28:14 mark of the second half.  Gariepy added her second goal of the game on an assist from Matilde Brotto 6 minutes later to round out the 4-1 final

Ellicottville goaltender Courtney Marsh again had a very solid game making 9 of 13 saves.  She kept the Eagles in the game as the Panther’s spent the vast majority of the game putting pressure on the defense.

Ellicottville will look to rebound as they head to Fredonia on Saturday and Portville travels to Salamanca next Thursday.
