OLEAN — Democrat Aaron Gies outraised Rep. Nick Langworthy in the final reporting period before the election in the 23rd Congressional District on Nov. 3.

It is the second straight reporting period Gies, a St. Bonaventure University professor and non-profit leader has surpassed Langworthy in a fundraising period.

The Gies campaign reported to the Federal Elections Commission that it raised $96,066 in the period ending Oct. 14, compared to $53,220 for Langworthy.

Langworthy still leads by a wide margin in the total raised since Jan. 1, 2025. His latest filing with the FEC shows his campaign raised $2,675,792 and had $1,994,176 on hand at the end of the reporting period.

Geis’ campaign reported total contributions from July 1, 2025 of $678,483, with $54,077 in cash on hand.

The Quarter 3 filing period marked a significant milestone in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, with Gies raising more in a single reporting period than Langworthy has ever reported raising throughout his lifelong political career, according to Gies campaign manager Robert Leonard.

“The latest fundraising results suggest significant momentum for the Gies campaign as it challenges the incumbent in a district spanning Western New York and the Southern Tier, Leonard said.

“Voters across Western New York and the Southern Tier are sending a clear message: they want a representative who works for them, not for party bosses in Washington,” Leonard said.

“I’ve spent my life teaching that true greatness is serving,” said Gies. “Nick Langworthy has spent his life in politics, taking care of corporate interests and party insiders. People here have noticed, and they’re putting their money behind someone who’ll answer to them instead. Every person who chipped in to this campaign is making that same bet: that the government can work for people and their communities again.”

Gies said he has built his campaign around making a good life more affordable, strengthening rural communities, and making government more transparent and accountable. Gies is nearing the end of a 100 Town Hall tour in 99 days while Langworthy has yet to hold a single in-person town hall, Leonard said.
