SALAMANCA, NY — The Salamanca girls basketball team took care of business at home, defeating Fredonia 54-27 for its fourth consecutive victory.
Charli Ross led the Warriors, scoring a game-high 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Maliyah Foster finished with 14 points for the hosts as well.
Myla Galante scored five points and shared the team-high tally in rebounds with Ross with eight to her name. Ella Crouse and Addison Earley tallied three assists apiece in the win as well.
“It was a solid game for us all around,” Salamanca head coach Joe Hinman said. “We worked on a lot of things but also know there are things we need to clean up moving forward. I’m proud of how we finished down low, especially Charli Ross. She did a great job creating space for herself in the post.”

GOWANDA, NY — With a consistent, all-around effort, the Portville girls basketball team cruised to victory on the road against Gowanda.
Quinn Scott led the Panthers with a team-high 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing five assists. Emma Rhinehart was not far behind, tallying 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Ali Haynes scored eight points and stuffed the stat sheet with a staggering 18 rebounds, two steals and two assists.
For Gowanda, Corrina John scored a game-high 22 points, 15 of which came from beyond the 3-point arc.
“I am pleased that the girls came out firing on all cylinders,” Portville head coach Inga Welty said. “They displayed composure and teamwork to jump out to a 16-2 lead in the first. They continued to steadily build on the lead but were outscored in the final stanza. As a team we rebounded well, with Ali Haynes ripping down 18 boards. Emma Rhinehart and Quinn Scott each scored double digits and filled the stat sheets.”

OLEAN, NY — The Olean girls basketball team suffered defeat at the hands of Southwestern, which set the tone with a 30-point first quarter.
Alaina Hirliman led the Huskies with a team-high 19 points, draining three 3-pointers in the process. Viktoriia Lozynska chipped in 10 points for the hosts as well.
Charlotte Beaver scored a game-high 20 points for Southwestern. Marlana Cresanti and Gianna Sirianni recorded 18 and 17 points, respectively, for the Trojans also.

Haley Keane scored a team-high 9 points for the Owls.
Payton Newton netted a game-high 16 points for ECC with Polaski and Stauffer chipping in 10 points apiece in support.
