ST. BONAVENTURE — Over the summer, a number of St. Bonaventure basketball commits have taken center stage across the Atlantic.
On the men’s side, Achille Lonati established himself as a force to be reckoned with while suiting up for Italy in the 2025 FIBA U-18 EuroBasket Tournament. As for the women, Ivona Djikanovic and Iva Corluka were integral to the success of the Serbian and Croatian national teams, respectively, in their EuroBasket tournaments.
The one thing each has in common: they will make their way to the Reilly Center ahead of the season with a piece of silverware in hand.
Lonati and Italy secured a bronze medal in the U-18 EuroBasket Tournament after defeating Latvia 86-68 in the third-place game. Over the course of the tournament, Lonati — whose innate scoring ability will be pivotal for the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team — finished the tournament with an average of 13.8 points per game, the 15th-best mark of any player.
He also capped off his tournament shooting 38.4% from the field, 33.3% from deep and — with a game-high 27 points in the bronze-medal game — recorded the sixth-highest point tally in a game of any player in the tournament.
