Roger L. Snyder of Galivants Ferry, formerly of Portville, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC.
Roger was born on May 7, 1944, in Olean and was the son of Charles W. and Ruth I. Martin Snyder. On February 17, 1984, in Hinsdale he married Carol L. Briggs, who survives.
Roger was a 1962 graduate of Olean High School. He served in the US Army. Roger worked at Corbin Wood Product Division in Hornell for about 5 years then went to Chef School and worked as a restaurant manager for Holiday Inn in Walterboro, SC then in Dunn, NC. He worked for the City of Olean for 30 plus years and retired from there in 2006. Roger was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He also enjoyed softball, baseball, soccer, and colorguard when the kids and grandkids played.
Beside his loving wife, Carol, Roger is survived by his son, Marc A. (Cindy) Giberson of Hinsdale, three daughters, Patricia Kay (Diego) Procacci of Manassas, VA., Jill Lynn (David) Jule of Fredericksburg, VA., and Jennifer Lee Hernandez of Newton, NC., thirteen grandchildren, Cody Giberson, Shelby Giberson, Anthony Giberson, Jesse Giberson, Ashley Giberson, Jamilyn Giberson, Heather Herald, Wyatt Hernandez, Wyston Hernandez, Gabriel Roberson, Katilynn Roberson, Brody Giberson, and Brea Giberson, twelve great grandchildren, and a sister, Linda C. Giardini of Round O, SC,.
Roger was predeceased by his son, Richard M. “Pork” Giberson, a brother, Carl Snyder, a sister, Sylvia R. Fessenden and a brother-in-law, Tom Giardini.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on May 9, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
