PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Finding themselves with their backs against a wall, the Otto-Eldred softball team rallied late, finding clutch hits as they pulled ahead in the seventh to beat Port Allegany 8-7.

Traveling into hostile territory, the Lady Terrors would set the tone early as they loaded the bases in with the first three batters before pulling away with a two-run RBI single from Carrie Drummond and a fielders’ choice score from Baylee Francis. While they would score once more in the second, O-E would watch as the Lady Gators mounted a comeback, scoring six runs over the next five at-bats to take a two-run lead.

Forced into a do-or-die scenario, O-E once again loaded the bases off of two walks and a Lexi Prince single. Riley McDivitt would then drive in Alya Van Scoter with an RBI single followed by a score from Prince on a sac-grounder to tie the game. Having just one out, Jahden Smith would be the difference maker, bringing two runners across home plate with a hard ground ball to left field. Although they would allow one Lady Gator score in the bottom of the seventh, O-E would hold on for their 14th win of the year.

Smith ended a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice with tallying two RBIs in the win. Carrie Drummond also drove in two runs during her 1-for-4 day in the batters’ box while McDivitt’s 2-for-2 performance produced two runs. In the circle, Rayel Hakes fanned ten batters as she continued her impressive sophomore season.

BRADFORD, PA – After scoring once in the first, six scoreless innings would see the Owls suffer their eighth loss of the season.

Finding themselves down by two early, Bradford would respond with one run driven in by a Evan Whitmore single. However, from then on, they would struggle to put men back on base. Unable to keep up with the Beavers, the Owls were swept in the season series.

Talan Reese ended 2-for-4 while Maksim Demic ended 1-for-4, also striking out two batters through seven innings. Whitmore and Lucas Wallace each found one hit through three appearances at the plate.

Falconer 7, Portville 6

ALLEGANY, NY – A scoreless seventh inning cut the Panthers’ comeback short as they were unable to overcome the Golden Falcons.

Through six innings, Portville struggled to get past the opposing ace, Erik Stenstrom, who racked up 14 strikeouts while giving up just six hits through six innings. Although the Panther were able to slowly make their way back into the game, a three-and-out collapse late would prove to be fatal.

Chase Armstrong ended 1-for-3 with one RBI while Cam Kessler finished 1-for-2 with one RBI and two runs. Brady German drove in one run during his 1-for-4 performance and Mekhi Muhyee scored once during the loss.
