ALLEGANY — Allegany Old Home Days will return again this year Thursday, June 27 to Saturday, June 29.

The carnival returns this year with 12 rides including a ferris wheel, said Matt Rado, chairman of the Allegany Fire Department’s Carnival Committee. Pre-sale tickets are 12 for $20 and are available from individual firemen. The price goes to $30 when Old Home Days starts.

There will also be wristband sales for $25 for unlimited rides from 1-5 p.m. Saturday.

Pre-sale ride tickets are also available at the Allegany Municipal Building, Corner of First and Maple, Studio 4 East, Hometown Bar and Grill and Citizen Printing House.

Rado said the Allegany Engine Company members were grateful for the community’s support last year after a three-year pause due to covid. Last year was the first Old Home Days since 2019.

“We’re working toward a larger carnival in the future,” Rado said in an interview Thursday. “Thanks to the support of the community last year, the Allegany Engine Company is happy to announce our carnival is returning this year.” A ferris wheel has been added this year.

The carnival opens Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. the water fights among several fire companies will get underway in front of the first station on First Street.

The band “Sticktights” will begin performing at 7 o’clock

The carnival closes at 11 o’clock that night.

On Friday the carnival is open from 6 p.m. to midnight. At 5:30, line-up for the Children’s Parade begins in the Post Office parking lot.

No gas powered vehicles are allowed in the parade. Kids are welcomed to dress up. Contact Danielle at (716) 378-5953 with any questions.

The parade starts at 6 o’clock from the Post Office and down Main Street to the Fire Hall where refreshments will be served.

The Allegany Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team will be providing a demonstration from 6-8 p.m. There will be live music with Pete Gilroy and Brian Ash from 7-10 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be unlimited carnival rides from 1-5 p.m. with wristbands costing $25. The carnival resumes at 6 p.m. until midnight.

The Firemen’s Parade will start at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Municipal Building on East Main Street, marching to the Fire Hall at 186 W. Main St.

The band “Animals in a Cage” will perform at 7:30 p.m.

This year’s Allegany Old Home Days is set for June 27-29.
