Portville, Salamanca, Olean pick up Friday wins on the road

SILVER CREEK, NY – The Panthers earned their fourth win of the season after a shutout beat down of Silver Creek/Forestville, cruising to a 58-0 victory.

Portville got to work early, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter. The first came after a lengthy drive downfield, capped off by a one-yard run from Maxx DeYoe. During the next drive, Eli Sleggs connected with Aidan Defazio for a pass that carried the Panthers the entire length of the field. After the 99-yard score, Portville connected on their second two-point conversion to go up 18-0.

The Panthers would score three more times before halftime. Defazio earned another trip to the end zone with a 25-yard reception before DeYoe got his second score on another goal line smash and Breckham Hunt put up seven on a 10-yard carry.

While they may have taken their foot off the gas in the second half, Portville didn’t avoid the end zone. The Panthers would score two more times, one in each of the final two quarters, before they boarded the bus with their fifth win of the season.

Sleggs finished with 161 passing yards, completing five of his six attempts for three touchdowns. DeYoe accumulated 94 rushing yards for two scores while Defazio led the offense in receiving yards with 124 off two catches. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, Landon Schappacher terrorized SCF with nine tackles.

Salamanca 33, Randolph 8

RANDOLPH, NY – The Warriors remained undefeated behind Maddox Issac’s 250-plus passing yards.

While both teams would be kept away from the scoreboard throughout the first quarter, Salamanca didn’t hesitate in the second, putting up 19 while still keeping the Cardinals scoreless. Their scoring surge would carry over into the second half as they doubled-down with 14 in the third quarter.

Under center, Issac ended with 259 passing yards on 71 percent completion rate for four touchdowns. His main target, Cory Holleran, caught two receptions for 165 yards and two scores. On the ground, Quinten Brown and Xavier Peters rushed a combined nine times, each tallying 48 and 46 yards, respectively.

Olean 21, Depew 15

DEPEW, NY – A third-quarter surge helped the Huskies get back in the win column as they picked up their fifth win of the season.

After a going toe-to-toe with the Wildcats in the first quarter, Olean fell behind by eight in the second. They would fail to respond before halftime but found new life in the intermission. Coming out of the break, the Huskies would score twice to put themselves in front and seal the win.

In all, quarterback Joe Mest ended with 94 yards and one score, while back up Austin Miles would throw one 28-yard passing touchdown. Domonic Hirlman ended with a score off 61 rushing yards and, through the air, Blake Kinnaird had 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
