FREDONIA, NY — The Olean boys basketball team suffered its first league loss of the season behind twin 16-point outings from Fredonia’s R.J. Koopman and Donovan Dowdy.
The Huskies, eventually falling by a 48-34 margin, held a narrow lead at the half behind eight points from Mykel Rivera. But as he was held scoreless through the final two quarters, Olean saw its offense come to a near halt. Meanwhile, the Hillbillies’ offense exponentially improved. They scored 31 points in the second half compared to the 17 points they netted in the first half.

COUDERSPORT, PA — While Port Allegany may have hit more shots from the field during its game against Coudersport, a stellar 3-point shooting effort from the hosts handed them the victory.
Of Coudersport’s 14 made field goals, nine came from beyond the arc and 13 points came from the free-throw line. Drew Vanwhy led the Falcons with 20 points with four made 3s and eight made free throws.
Jarrod Funk scored a team-high 15 points for the Gators in the loss.

St. Marys 57, Port Allegany 46
ST. MARYS, PA — Despite a consistent offensive performance, the Port Allegany girls basketball team fell to a high-octane St. Mary’s side.
Despite a slow start, the Flying Dutch got back on track in the second frame and out-scored the Gators with 48 points over the final three quarters. Molly Hanslovan led St. Mary’s with a 26-point effort.
Peyton Gordon and Brynn Evens scored 19 and 16 points, respectively, for Port Allegany.

MENS BASKETBALL
Pitt-Bradford 102, La Roche 96
BRADFORD, PA — It was all offense in Pitt-Bradford’s matchup against La Roche.
The Panthers and the Redhawks combined for 124 total field goal attempts with five players on each team finishing with double figures in the score column.
But still, with as little defense being played, the affair managed to stay close. The Redhawks, who were led by a 30-point performance courtesy of Major Rainey, held a six-point advantage at the break.
However, momentum swung the way of the hosts in the second half as the Panthers turned their six-point deficit at the intermission into a six-point advantage come the final buzzer.
Pitt-Bradford was led by Jeremy Rodriguez, who tallied 23 points and seven rebounds. Also finishing in double figures for the Panthers were Maki Hill (15), Clarence Cobbins (14), Tra Edwards (13) and Niare Poplar (10).
