OLEAN, NY — After a 12-day hiatus, the Olean softball team returned to action and picked up where they left off, dominating Jamestown 13-0 in five innings on the shoulders of Emma Edwards
Edwards couldn’t help being in the spotlight for the Huskies as she led the charge on both sides of the plate. In the circle, she completed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and just two walks while in the batters’ box, Edwards went a perfect 4-for-4, tallying three runs scored and three more batted in. Riley Sudbrook also scored three times, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Anna Bates drove in three on her 2-for-3 day at the plate. Five other Huskies found contact during the win with nine rounding home plate in total.
Olean will remain at home for the rest of the week, hosting Allegany-Limestone (5-0) on Friday at 5 p.m.

SALAMANCA, NY — Despite having held a three-run lead over its opposition through the early innings, the Salamanca softball team put another tally in the loss column after Southwestern managed to conjure up some late offense.
The Warriors entered the game on the back of their first win of the season, a high-scoring 23-19 result at Cattaraugus-Little Valley, and used the wind in its sails to jump out to a 4-1 lead after three frames. Unfortunately for the hosts, those early runs wound up as the only offense they were able to generate on the day, and in time, the Trojans pounced at their opportunity.
Scoring three runs apiece in the fifth and sixth frames, Southwestern swiped a victory on the road.
Charli Ross led the Warriors on offense (1-for-3, 2 RBI) and in the circle (5 SO, 6 BB).

BASEBALL
Port Allegany 5, Otto-Eldred 1
ELDRED, PA — Meeting the defending Allegheny Mountain League champions for the first time this season, the Terrors were unable to slow them down early, resulting in their fourth loss of the season.
After scoring on a passed ball in the first, the Gators would double down with three more runs in the third. With two outs, Levi Howard and Gavin Moses both rattled off singles before being driven across home plate from a two-run RBI single from Tyler Carinci. That lead would prove strong enough against O-E as the Terrors failed to muster a comeback. O-E’s lone run of the day came from Ryan Schenfield, who brought in Grady Van Camp on a bases-loaded sacrifice grounder.
The Terrors will return to action on Thursday, hosting Smethport at 4:30 p.m.
