SALAMANCA — The Salamanca boys baseball team was able to maintain its blemish-free record on the season with a 6-2 win over CSAT at home.

Despite getting out-hit 7-6 on the afternoon, the Warriors made the most of the offense it did manage to generate.

Zach Trietley, who has enjoyed a great start to the campaign, was the biggest producer of offense for the hosts, connecting for two hits, scoring two runs and recording four RBI. He was the only member of the Warriors with multiple hits.

Cory Holleran, Kruz Coustenis, Conner Seeley and Andrew McCormick tallied the other hits for Salamanca.

Calum Farnum got his first start on the mound this season for the Warriors and managed to get through 3.0 innings, striking out and walking three batters apiece. Jacob Herrick replaced him in relief and finished out the final 4.0 innings, striking out four, walking two and conceding four hits and CSAT’s only two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

FALCONER — The Portville softball team stumbled out of the gates, failing to record a hit and falling to Falconer in its season-opener.

But despite having struggled to put bat to ball, the Panthers managed to generate offense via other means, working nine walks and thus still putting two runs up on the board.

Ella Warters started in the circle for Portville and recorded six strikeouts, three walks and six hits through 5.0 innings before being replaced by Isabella Morales, who finished the game recording a strikeout and conceding a hit in 1.0 inning.
