SALAMANCA — Andrew McCormick, a student in Shawn Howard’s Technology classes, recently completed a creative and technical design project producing Salamanca-themed coasters that highlight both school pride and modern manufacturing skills.
Using Autodesk Inventor, Andrew designed a series of detailed coaster concepts featuring Salamanca-inspired themes. The designs were then brought to life using the district’s new Bambu 3D printer, a cutting-edge machine capable of printing up to four colors within a single design while maintaining production-level quality.
Throughout the project, several designs and color combinations were produced as prototypes. From these, three final designs were selected.
Prior to final selection, several individuals were surveyed to gather feedback on the prototype designs, helping guide the decision-making process and ensuring the final products best represented school spirit and visual appeal.
The finished coasters serve as both functional items and symbolic representations of Salamanca School pride.
This project reflects the growing role of advanced technology in the classroom and demonstrates how students are applying engineering and design software to real-world manufacturing processes.
Howard noted that projects like this help students build valuable skills in computer-aided design, additive manufacturing, problem-solving, and product development.
The completed coasters highlight the intersection of creativity, technology, and school pride, showcasing what students can achieve with modern design tools and innovative classroom resources, Howard said.
