Cattaraugus County Democrats have an opportunity to vote in the upcoming contests for the 23rd Congressional District seat and state comptroller starting with early voting Saturday through June 21.

Republicans in several election districts (listed below) are running for the Cattaraugus County Republican Committee.

Primary Day voting on June 23 will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The congressional primary between Aaron Gies of Olean, a St. Bonaventure University Franciscan Studies professor, and Buffalo attorney Kevin Stocker will decide who will challenge two-term U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy of Niagara County.

The two met once last month in a forum in Fredonia sponsored by the Chautauqua County League of Women Voters.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is being challenged by two Democrats, Drew Warshaw and Raj Goyle.

The two democratic congressional candidates have reported raining similar amounts — $178,508 for Gies and $164,039 for Stocker.

The difference, according to reports on file with the Federal Elections Commission is that nearly all of Stocker’s funding has come from personal loans from the candidate.

Gies reported raising $178,508, spending $84,208 and having $54,583 in cash on hand. Gies contributed $3,024 to his own campaign.

Stocker’s $164,039 in receipts includes $2,428 in individual contributions. He reported spending $166,537 and a minus $3,790 in cash on hand.

Langworthy’s FEC reports show he has $2.1 million in cash on hand.

Early voting will take place at the Board of Elections offices in the former Little Valley school, and in the Magnano Room at the Cutco Building at the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College in Olean.
