WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Gators advance to Section VI quarterfinals; Pitt-Bradford women earn first win in season finale

ALLEGANY, NY – Having ten Gators make their way into the scoring column, the Allegany-Limestone girl’s basketball team cruised to a victory in the first round of the Section VI Class B playoffs, demolishing MEC/Research Lab, 67-15. 

With scoring coming by committee, Kaiana Wojewoda-Ko led the charge, ending with a team-high 11 points throughout the win. Maddie Kahm, who knocked down two of the Gators’ three 3-pointers, finished with nine points, while Serena Frederick, Mya Haynes and Lyla Giardini all recorded eight points in the win. 

Moving on to the Class B quarterfinals, A-L now faces a third meeting with Salamanca, a team that swept A-L in the two regular season matchups. That game is slated for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Salamanca.

Westfield 48, Portville 35

WESTFIELD, NY – Taking the hour and a half trip to the banks of Lake Erie, the Panthers were unable to keep their season alive, falling to the third-seeded Wolverines. 

With the loss, Portville finishes their 2025-2026 campaign at 11-8 overall. 

Women’s Basketball

Pitt-Bradford 63, Pitt-Greensburg 53

GREENSBURG, PA – Having one last chance to put themselves in the win column, the Panthers rose to the occasion, besting Pitt-Greensburg in the season finale. 

Pitt-Bradford jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Greensburg 15-9 in the first quarter before doubling down to hold a 28-17 advantage going into halftime. From there, although Greensburg began to find their rhythm, the Panthers held out, tallying their first and only win of the season.

Amber Murak once again led Pitt-Bradford in scoring, finishing with a game-high 24 points alongside three rebounds and four steals. Off the bench, Ella Gettings ended with 12 points and 10 rebounds, also coming away with four steals, while Raquel Sewell recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds in the win. 

The Panthers finish their season at 1-23 overall and 1-15 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. 

Men’s Basketball

Pitt-Greensburg 110, Pitt-Bradford 97

GREENSBURG, PA – Coming into their final game of the regular season on a four-game win streak, the Panthers stumbled at the finish line, losing by 13 to Pitt-Greensburg. 

Four Panthers ended in double-digit scoring. Xander Norris finished with a team-high 21 points along with his three rebounds and three assists, while Jeremy Rodriguez followed in suit with 20 points, five rebounds and three steals. Coming off the pine, Tra Edwards tallied 16 points and two assists and Coby Farley contributed 12 points and two rebounds.

Pitt-Bradford now awaits the AMCC playoffs, where they have secured a home playoff game.
