July 1, 1937 – February 12, 2026
Dr. Waleed Ahmed Brantley (Saleh), loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 12th, 2026.
Born on July 1st, 1937, in Iraq to Naima and Ahmad Al Saleh. Waleed went on to study medicine and completed medical school at the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in 1964, an internship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Brooklyn in 1972, and a residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai West in 1977. After traveling much of the U.S., he continued his work in Olean, NY, at St. Francis and Olean General Hospital, where he met his wife, Janet. He was devoted to his work as an OB/GYN and proudly delivered thousands of babies, including all his own. He later enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his family and grandkids, long walks at St. Bonaventure University with his dog Daisie, reading medical journals, taking care of his hundreds of fruit trees, and ending his day with Cabernet Sauvignon.
Waleed is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janet Saleh, and his six children; Nicole (Jack) Marvin, Adrienne Saleh (Josh Kwiatkowski), Dr. Damian Brantley, Natalie Saleh, Leslie Saleh (Xavier Smith), and Demi Brantley; his grandchildren Jackson, Ellie Grace, Max, Owen, and Noah. He is also survived by his brothers Abdullah Al Saleh and Ali Al Saleh, his nephews Mazin Al Saleh, Samir Al Saleh, and Aythem Al Saleh; and his collection of traffic tickets.
Waleed was predeceased by his parents, Ahmad and Naima Al Saleh.
A gathering to honor Dr. Waleed Brantley will be held at the Fairway View Pavilion overlooking St. Bonaventure Golf Course on Friday, February 27th, from 3 pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers or donations, his family asks that you plant a fruit tree in his honor. May it serve as a lasting symbol of a life that nourished and blessed so many.
