JAMESTOWN, NY — After trading punches through all four quarters, the Salamanca girls basketball team avenged its loss to Southwestern from earlier this season, claiming a 52-47 victory.

The Trojans had been unbeaten through 11 games in the CCAA Div. I. But behind a near triple-double from Kynleigh Wass (11 points, nine rebounds, seven assists), and an 11-point, seven rebound game from Liana Jimerson, the Warriors provided the first blemish on their host’s pristine record.

Mackenzie Crouse tallied nine points and eight rebounds in the win as well.

For Southwestern, Charlotte Beaver led the scoring with a game-high 17 points. Marlana Cresanti and Gianna Sirianni netted 14 and 10 points in the loss as well.

“I’m so incredibly proud of this group,” Salamanca head coach Joe Hinman said. “It was a game of runs but we were in control the whole game and never backed down. This was one of the biggest wins in our program’s recent history.”
