PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Tallying one final league win, the Port Allegany boy’s basketball team officially earned the North Tier League title, beating Northern Potter 59-21.

Looking to close their regular season on a high note, the Gators brought the offense early. Opening with a flurry of scores, including a trio of triples, Port quickly jumped out to a double-digit lead. Holding it through the half, they then doubled down, outscoring NoPo 20-4 in the third before cruising to one last victory at home.

Jarrod Funk, who scored 11 of the Gators’ 20 third-quarter points, ended with a game-high 19 points alongside nine rebounds and two steals. Isac Amell and Liam Hawver both also ended in double-digit scoring, with Amell tallying 13 points, four rebounds and four assists and Hawver ending with 11 points, and two steals.

While the Gators end the regular season, their serious work now begins. Before making an appearance in the District 9 Class 2A postseason, Port will first look towards the North Tier League Tournament. As the top seed in the bracket, they will host Coudersport in the semis before hopefully playing in the finals at Bradford on Saturday.
