PORTVILLE, NY – Following a slow start, the Portville girls basketball team were unable to keep up with Frewsburg.

Ali Haynes led the Panthers with a team-high nine points and six rebounds. Emma Rhinehart chipped in seven points, four assists and two steals on the night as well. Both were honored on the night as Portville celebrated senior night.

“Tonight we celebrated two special seniors, Ali Haynes and Emma Rhinehart, as they played their final game in the PCS gym,” Portville coach Inga Welty said. “I’d like to thank those two for representing our program, our school, and our community in a positive manner. They display characteristics on and off the court that you would hope all young people would demonstrate.”

Frewsburg was led by a 27-point performance from Jadyn Trocki. Abery Harvey and Jaden Jimerson added 17 and 12 points, respectively, in the win.

“We struggled with Frewsburg’s full court press and that led to easy transition buckets for them in the first and third quarters,” Welty said. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they aren’t ranked the No. 1 Class C school in the state by accident. They play harassing defense, run many offensive sets, and have one of the best all-around players in Jadyn Trocki running the show. Their other players own their roles and work hard. I’m positive they are going to make another deep run in the playoffs.”
