DUKE CENTER, PA — Shaking off their first home loss in four years, the Otto-Eldred boy’s basketball team got back to their winning ways, picking up their fourth North Tier League win of the season with a 53-36 victory over Austin.
Mason Rees put the Terrors in the lead out of the gates with his electric touch beyond the arc. Knocking down three triples in the first quarter, Rees helped O-E build a 25-20 lead going into halftime. Entering the third, Jack Sherry took over the scoring responsibilities, tallying eight of O-E’s 10 third-quarter points before the Terrors scored by committee to seal the win in the fourth, ultimately outscoring Austin 18-11.
Sherry led the Terrors in scoring with 13 points, also ripping down 12 rebounds, tying with Wyatt Blendinger’s 13 and followed by Rees’ 12 points. Mason Schenfield facilitated the offense with seven assists and seven rebounds, scoring four points alongside Michael Sheelers’ six points and eight rebounds.

GALETON, PA — Led by Jarrod Funk’s 19 points and sealed with staunch, late-game defense, the Gators picked up their first win of the season with a NTL victory over the Tigers.
Returning to the lineup after missing one game due to health, Funk helped Port off to a hot start. Knocking down a pair of triples, he and Liam Hawver combined for 14 of the Gators’ 16 first-quarter points. As they continued to insulate their lead over Galeton through the next two quarters, Port held just a seven-point advantage with eight minutes to go in the game. Putting on the clamps, they held the Tigers to just one point as they earned their first victory of the 2025-2026 campaign.

Olean 47, Wellsville 39
WELLSVILLE, NY — After suffering a lopsided defeat in its first game of the season, Olean bounced back and secured its first win of the year on the road over Wellsville.
The Huskies maintained an advantage over the Lions through each quarter of play. That being said, it was tough sledding down the stretch as both teams struggled to find the bottom of the net. Olean scored just two points in the final frame, but did enough defensively to see the result over the line.
Dominik Meyers led the Huskies in the victory with a team-high 12 points. He received help from Adrian Bohdanowycz and Mykel Rivera, who scored 11 points apiece in the win as well.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Salamanca 48, Ellicottville 43
ELLICOTTVILLE, NY — The Salamanca girls basketball team may not have gotten the start off the blocks it was hoping for this season, but has now picked up its first win of the campaign after topping Ellicottville away from home.
Despite a slow start that saw them down at the break, the Warriors surged ahead over the final two frames to edge out the narrow victory.
Maliyah Foster recorded a joint-game-high 20 points to lead Salamanca. Behind her, Liana Jimerson provided 16 points.
“It was an extremely sloppy first half for us,” Salamanca coach Joe Hinman said. “We were only down three (at the half) but it felt like a lot more because of the turnovers. We got a lot of open looks but struggled to find the bottom of the basket early on. Ellicottville always gives us a hard time whenever we play each other. Liana hit some big shots down the stretch to keep us in it. It will be good to finally get our group to full strength next week to open league play.”
