BRADFORD, PA — With six Lady Owls finding the back of the net, the Bradford girl’s soccer team overpowered and outshot Oil City, winning via 11-0 shutout.

Starting at the top, Bradford’s star Alyssa Mangold led the charge, punching in five goals while assisting on another. Cami Sheely had four assists while also scoring twice alongside Alexis Kicior, Karissa Chamberlain, Maddy Rimer, Miley Swanson and Rory Hollebeke combining for four goals and two assists.

As the Lady Owls improve to 6-3, their hot streak will be tested on Thursday, when they host Warren at 5:30 p.m.

Salamanca 1, Ellicottville 0

SALAMANCA, NY — Taking on a CCAA Division 1 opponent, the Warriors were able to jump to the second spot in the standings with a narrow victory over the Eagles.

After a scoreless first half, Salamanca responded almost immediately. Ireland Fidurko punched a shot in with a beautifully placed direct kick just three minutes into the second half. In goal, Kendra Bova-Redye shut out the Eagles, helping the Warriors to their first win over Ellicottville in over a decade.

Salamanca improves to 3-5 overall and 3-1 in league play.

BOYS SOCCER

Randolph 2, Portville 2

PORTVILLE, NY — Locked in a duel with the Cardinal’s star, Colin German carried the Panthers to a stalemate decision as they retained the second seed in the CCAA Div. II standings.

It seemed as though every time German would find a way to score, so would Randolph’s Cooper Freeman. After Portville’s junior leader punched in a shot at the 23-minute mark, Freeman retaliated just five minutes later. In the second half, still knotted at 1-1, Freeman would find the back of the net with just three minutes remaining. Faced with desperation, German rose to the occasion, tallying his 10th goal of the season with one in the 79th minute, forcing a deadlock.

Ending in a draw, the Panthers now hold a record of 5-0-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the CCAA, tied with Elliccottville/Franklinville (4-1-3 overall) who sits one space ahead.

Jamestown 2, Olean 0

From there, however, the final seven games on the schedule will all be CCAA matchups as the Huskies look to fight for playoff positioning.

Salamanca 5, Pine Valley/Gowanda 0

SALAMANCA, NY — With five Warriors each finding a way to make it to the scorebooks, the Salamanca boy’s team picked up their first win of the season with a shutout over the Panthers.
