BRADFORD, PA – Taking to their home course, Evan Troisi and Kadyn Tessena led the Bradford boy’s cross country team to a win in the 22nd Annual Bradford Cross Country Invitational, beating the field of eight competing teams.
The duo, who have led the Owls all season, both finished in the top 10, with Troisi coming in seventh with a time of 17:56 and Tessena finishing ninth at 19:10. However, it was the emergence of Bradford’s sophomore class that upheld a victory at home. Xavier Frontino ended the day with a personal best time of 18:14, burning 50 seconds off his time for an eleventh place finish while Jordan Hogue crossed the finish line four spots later with a time of 18:39. Nikolai Frontino ended in 18th place at 18:48, improving 38 seconds from his previous best time.
“I think these three sophomores could really excel at this if they work hard enough. This meet helped their confidence quite a bit,” said Bradford head coach Tom Tessena. “We still have a long way to go but we will concentrate on improving with only districts of mind.”
Bradford totaled 60 points followed by Elk County at 80, North Clarion had 81, Smethport had 107, Oswayo Valley had 114, and Mansfield, Olean and Otto-Eldred rounded out the field with 140, 173 and 274, respectively.
Girls Soccer
Brookville 3, Port Allegany 2
BROOKVILLE, PA – Kailey Bartlett and Kylee Pelchy led the Lady Gators in their Saturday contest, however, Port United still couldn’t hold up against the Lady Rovers.
Bartlett and Pelchy both found the back of the net over the weekend, however, while Port’s offense was firing, their defense failed to hold Brookville at bay. Scoring for the Lady Rovers came from Ally Wilson and Kaida Yoder, who ended with two goals.
In goal, Hannah Taylor finished with 12 saves.
Boys Soccer
Brookville 3, Port Allegany 0
BROOKVILLE, PA – Continuing to face injuries and fatigue, the Gators fell to 1-8 with a loss to the Rovers.
Port’s road trip continues on Tuesday when they travel to St. Marys to take on the Dutchmen in their lone game of the week.

CUBA, NY – The Gators added a third win to their season with a narrow win over C-R.
Their Saturday win stands as their last non-league contest in the foreseeable future, as A-L now moves into CCAA league play, starting with a Tuesday contest against Olean. Following their first meeting with the Huskies, the Gators will see seven consecutive league opponents.
Men’s Soccer
Pitt-Bradford 3, SUNY ESF 0
SYRACUSE, NY – The Panthers strung a second consecutive win together with a shutout win over the Mighty Oaks.
After starting their season with a draw and a loss, Pitt-Bradford has been finding their stride. Entering their Saturday contest, they had recorded two wins in the past three games, both of them coming while holding their opponents scoreless.
Against SUNY ESF, the Panthers earned their place on the scoreboard first with Brady Hathaway tallying his second goal of the season via penalty kick. Their offense would then cool off until the second half when Holden Kelly scored his first goal, also a PK, in the 50th minute, followed by a shot into the net from Alex Stockton that came off a pass for Kyle Carlsen.
Holding the last line of defense, Christopher House protected the goal with four saves.
Duquesne 3, St. Bonaventure 1
PITTSBURGH, PA – A goal in the final minutes would save the Bonnies from a road-game shutout against the Dukes.
Duquesne set the tone early, posting a goal in the 15th minute before finding twin scores in the second half, coming in the 58th and 59th minute. As the game wound down, Daniel Helle found the back of the net, scoring with just six minutes left in the contest.
Taking over after 20 minutes of play, Felix Schöne came away with two saves.
Women’s Soccer
Bethany 3, Pitt-Bradford 1
BRADFORD, PA – Pitt-Bradford suffered a third straight loss after a blistering hot second half from the Bison.
Despite getting on board first with an unassisted goal from Mya King, her fourth of the season, and holding the lead into the break, the Panthers would witness the Bison respond in the second with three goals, all coming in the final 15 minutes.
Starting in goal for Pitt-Bradford, Madelyn Seely came away with eight saves in eight shots faced. Taking over in the second, Josie Orinko stopped four shots.
