ALLEGANY — Hundreds watched and participated last week in the Allegany Memorial Day Parade along Main Street and ceremony outside Allegany Town Hall.
The Allegany American Legion Post 892 Honor Guard led the parade from the Allegany Fire Department.
Also participating were Allegany Boy Scout Troop 667, Allegany Legion Riders, the Allegany-Limestone High School Band, Allegany and Westons Mills fire departments, Allegany Little League, a float featuring My Sunshine School and others.
At the ceremony outside Town Hall, First Vice Commander Tim Hite served as master of ceremonies.
“Seeing this community come together is what it ius all about,” said keynote speaker Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski.

“This is what America is all about and it shows the freedoms we enjoy,” Sempolinski. “We are so blessed as Americans. We’re more blessed that any country in the history of the world. We only have those blessings, we only have those freedoms to stand here in peace and security because of those who have laid down everything for us.”
Shannon Barie, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Cathy Lippoert, auxiliary education chairman and Girl’s State chairman, introduced Girl’s State representatives Madelyn Price-Costa and Sienna Nagel.
Achievement Awards were presented to Vincent Amore, Grace Ktchner, Caitlin Kellogg, Avebury McCoy, Elizabeth Giardini, Caleb Strade, Gavin Straub and Brady Straub.
Gold Star Mother Katie Clemons joined Barie and others in placing five wreaths ay The Veterans War Memorial.
