Hinsdale, NY Carol A. Hooper, 85, of Hinsdale, passed away Monday (April 21, 2025) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born December 31, 1939 in Olean, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Betina White Foster. On June 27, 1959 she married Edward Hooper who survives. Carol was a 1957 graduate of Hinsdale Central School.

In addition to the pleasure of raising her family, she was a dedicated employee of the various places she worked. She was employed by the former AVX Corporation in Olean where she was the president for 20 years of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 1690. With her keen interest in politics, and the opportunity for travel, the responsibilities of the job fit her perfectly. After retirement, she continued staying busy with part-time employment at the former BonTon Department Store, and as a bus monitor for the Hinsdale Central School District. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband, Edward; 2 sons, Mark (Laura) Hooper of Winder, GA, and Cris (Patricia) Hooper of Dacula, GA; 1 daughter, Shelley Hooper of Hershey, PA; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Michael (Debbie) Foster of Seneca, SC and William (Greta) Jay of Phoenix, AZ; 1 sister Melanie (Paul) Edwards of Buckeye, AZ; 1 sister-in-law, Sherry Foster of Harrisburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Bruce Foster.

The family will receive friends on Thursday (April 24, 2025) from 10am to 11am at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean.

A funeral service will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Rev. Mark Chapman will officiate. Burial will follow in Hinsdale Cemetery, Maplehurst.
