The Warriors’ two other event winners were Izabella Milks, who claimed victory in the high jump (4-11) and Thia Chudy, who grabbed her first-ever victory in the 3,000m (14:48). Milks also took second in the triple jump, third in the long jump, and fifth in the 400m, setting a personal record in the latter. Chudy also placed fifth in the 1,500m.

Salamanca’s Demitriana Coleman, Kyla Dry, Ariyanah Bluntt and Jamilla Nelthrope won the 400m relay (57.1 seconds).

Kailin Lemon placed second in the 800m and third in the 1,500m. Gabriella Bly ran for fourth place in the 1,500m and set a personal best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:21.2. Paloma Haas finished second in the shot and third in the discus. Arleigh Chudy finished in the pole vault and fifth in the discus. Ariyanah Bluntt grabbed a third place finish in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump, both good for PR’s. And, to round out Salamanca’s other top finishers on the day, Rileigh Hutchison grabbed a fourth place finish in the pole vault.

Other girls who had PR’s this meet were Addison Follman (100m, long jump), Lauren Eddy (long jump, 200m), Genesis Gonzalez (discus, shot put), Mary Chen (100m and 200m) and Mya Woods (400m and 200m).

“We have an impressive roster,” Salamanca girls track and field coach Laurie Lafferty-John said. “We have a dedicated group of girls that have made some team and individual goals that they will be working hard to attain this year.”

As for the boys team, it set 37 PRs, albeit 27 of them were set by rookies in their first performances.

Evan Spruce led the way for the Warriors, earning the only first place finishes for the boys. His shot put distance of 38-9.50 was an outdoor personal best. He won discus with a 106-01 distance as well.

Also having success in the field events was Kasen Hardy, who earned two PRs and placed fifth in shot put.

Senior Kyle Lecceardone led the way in the sprints for the Warriors, earning third place finishes in the 100m and the 200m. Perry Winship and Camron Bowser picked up points in the 100m and high jump with fourth and fifth place finishes.

Dakota Colts and Noah Longley finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 400m while Jack Merrill took fourth in the 400m hurdles with teammate Dylan Lecceardone finishing right behind him in fifth.

Aiden George placed second in the 1,600m and fourth in the 800m. Payton Bigler finished third in the 800m, setting a personal best in the process. Knox Johnson also ran an 800m PR which was good enough for fifth place. Also, Preston Smith took second in the 3,200m.

Salamanca took second to Wellsville in all three relays.

“It was an outstanding start for the season,” Salamanca boys track and field coach Michelle Hill said. “If we can stay healthy, we know that it is going to be an incredible season. With more depth, we look to be more competitive in dual meets. We are excited to watch the progress of all our athletes.”
