ELLICOTTVILLE — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County will host speakers Saturday on maple production, mushrooms and farm business management.
The program will be held at the Ellicottville Town Center, 28 Parkside Drive, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.
Southwest Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops teams will discuss trends in farming and agroforestry including trends in maple production, adding to farm products with mushrooms and best practices for diversifying your farm or agriculture business.
Speakers will include Aaron Wighman, a state maple specialist who conducts research on all aspects of maple production. He will talk about trends in maple farms and products as well as changes in the industry.
Connor Yougerman, an agroforestry and mushroom specialist with the Cornell Small Farms program will talk about adding mushrooms to your woodlot farming portfolio.
Katelyn Walley of the Southwest Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team, will discuss business planning for changes on your small farm and preparing to update your business based on market and industry trends.
