OLEAN — Millennium Construction isn’t wasting any time on the Walkable Olean III project on East State Street.
The $2.7 million project stretches from North Union Street to East Avenue and includes a mini roundabout at Barry and East State streets.
The firm has concentrated on sidewalks since the first day it started installing signage for the project on May 20. Last week they removed the existing sidewalks and began building frames.
On Monday, a crew from the Niagara Falls firm was pouring concrete for sidewalks on the north side of East State Street near the east end of the project.
Millennium Construction plans to pour more concrete for sidewalks on Tuesday to finish as far as North Barry Street.
Traffic was moving pretty well through the project on Monday, but there will be times when motorists will want to take alternate routes — like when mill and paving starts or when excavating the roundabout.
