PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Improving on last year’s opening stretch, the Port Allegany baseball team set a new watermark as they collected their ninth consecutive win, dominating Cameron County 12-0 in five innings.

After collecting a lone run in the initial inning, the Gators then returned to the plate in the bottom of the second with force. Loading the bases in their first three batters, the next four would all drive in runs. Brennan Fillhart scored three with a line drive single, followed by RBI-doubles from Kellen Veilleux and Nick Wilfong and a sacrifice fly from Chase Boyd. Running up a 6-0 lead, Port then doubled down with four more in the third, all but ending the game while they held the Red Raiders fully at bay.

Wilfong ended the day 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two more batted in, while Veilleux came away with a pair of hits in four trips to the batters’ box, scoring twice alongside an RBI. Gavin Moses ended 3-for-3, followed by a combined five hits from Fillhart, Liam Hawver, Garrin Wright and Lane Gay.

While they would extend the second game to six innings, the ultimate result came out the same. Payten Lenze ended with two hits in four trips to the plate during game No. 2, scoring once to go with her two RBIs, while Szuba ended 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
