PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Facing a 1-1 stalemate with Eisenhower, the Port United girl’s soccer team’s playoff hopes now rest on the final game of the season.
Coming off a 3-1 win over Ridgway, the Lady Gators had to tally at least one more win to satisfy the school’s 0.500 record and secure a playoff berth in the District 9 Class A postseason. However, their meeting with the Knights wouldn’t punch their ticket. After taking a 1-0 lead with a goal from Journey Wilmouth, an own goal brought the game back to even. That mistake would shadow the remainder of the game and with the scoreboard unchanged, the Lady Gators’ mission was left unfulfilled. At least for the moment.
Kailey Bartlett came away with the assist while Hannah Taylor defected 12 saves while tending the net.
The final game of the season comes as a challenge. Against the red hot Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders, Port will have to win or tie to earn their spot in the postseason.
Fredonia 4, Olean 0
OLEAN, NY – Suffering three goals in the second half, the Huskies dropped their ninth loss in a row.

Fredonia added two more to their lead with goals in the 55th and 60th minute, sealing their ninth win of the season.
At 1-12-1 overall, the Huskies have just two games left on their schedule, both of which will be played at home. First, they will take on Portville on Monday before seeing Salamanca on Friday, Oct. 17th.
Ellicottville 2, Salamanca 1
ELLICOTTVILLE, NY – Despite matching the Eagles first half goal with one of their own, a final score in the second would go unanswered, handing the Warriors their fourth CCAA Division 2 loss of the season.
Ellicottville’s Juleana Lyon opened the day with a score in the 27th minute, assisted by Eliza Murray. Seven minutes later, Salamanca retaliated with a shot from Addy Early, who was fed on a pass by Brielle Massagli. Both held scoreless for the next 14 minutes, the Eagles opened the second half action with Lyon’s second goal of the night, one that stood as the game-deciding score.
In goal, Kendra Bova Redeye faced five shots, saving three of them.
With the loss, Ellicottville fastens their grip on the second seed in CCAA II at 6-3. Salamanca, who boasts a 5-4 league record, now has three more games to shore up their play before the postseason.
