PORT ALLEGANY, PA — After ending the first half with a slim and narrowly-found lead, the Port United boy’s soccer team saw a second half comeback from Northern Potter be completed in the final second, producing a heartbreaking 2-1 loss.
Through the initial 40 minutes, both the Gators and Panthers squared off in an evenly-fought match. Neither team could find a way to the net until the closing seconds. With 25 seconds remaining before the break, Alex Schott punched in the go-ahead goal, sending the Gators into halftime in good spirits.
However, NoPo were quick to dash their hopes in the second, tying the game in the first few minutes. After another round of back-and-forth scrambles up and down the field, the Panthers would steal a win on the road with a last-second score. NoPo would take the lead, and the victor, for good with a goal in the final 10 seconds, refusing to give Port any time to respond.
