LITTLE VALLEY — The annual Little Valley Central School Alumni banquet was held June 28, 2025 at the Corporate Building on the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds with 180 members and guests attending.  A buffet dinner was provided by Goode’s Restaurant of Gowanda.

President Kevin Andrew, Class of ’75, welcomed all in attendance.  He stated general fund donations, as well as Memmott-Langhans scholarship support, has been very generous as always.

Ed Memmott, Class of ’58 and scholarship chairman, stated six awards have been given to Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central college-bound seniors.  They are Bernice Butcher, Carter Harvey, Sofia Sheldon, Zoe Whitmore, Amelia Wolf and McKayla Zimmer.  Each student will receive awards of $1866 each.

Brad Lockwood, Class of ’88, spoke on the upcoming second annual Village of Knives event set for July 11-12 at the county fairgrounds.  He is looking forward to an even bigger and better event.  Lockwood stated it’s a tremendous way to keep the village’s knife-making history alive.

Mark Memmott, Class of ’76, gave an update on the Little Valley Fund, an endowment that looks to help residents by providing projects and services beneficial to all.  Memmott said some funds have been allocated this year to the historical murals being hung around town, but more funds are available.  Ideas should be shared with members of the committee.

President Andrew, member of the honored class of ’75, shared memories of his school days.  He stated LVCS may not exist on paper, but will forever remain in our hearts.

President Andrew, Secretary Nell Fellows, Class of ’76, and Treasurer Karel Beeles Hamilton, Class of ’72, were re-elected to a two year term.

Roll call of members was read.  Jackie Lazarowitz Emborsky, Class of 2000, was the youngest member attending.  Art Asquith, Class of ’46, was the eldest.

The meeting closed with the singing of the school song and alma mater.

The 2027 banquet will be held on June 27.
