WEDNESDAY ROUNDUP: A-L adds ninth win to their resume; Lady Owls soccer knot ECC

ALLEGANY, NY – Keeping their win streak rolling, the Allegany-Limestone boy’s soccer team ousted the Jamestown from their home turf with a 5-2 win. 

Despite two ties in the midst, the Gators tallied their eighth win in the last ten games, producing a 9-1-2 overall record and a 7-0-1 record in CCAA Division I league play, good for the top spot in the standings. 

Up next, A-L will take on Dunkirk in enemy territory on Saturday before hosting Olean on the following Wednesday. Then, in the conclusion of the regular season, they will head back out on the road to play Hornell next Friday. 

Cassadaga Valley 1, Salamanca 0

SINCLAIRVILLE, NY – A late game goal sank the Warriors to 5-8 overall. 

Salamanca has three games left on the docket, two of which will be played at home. On Thursday, they will host Dunkirk before taking the road for an immediate rematch on Tuesday. Finally, on next Thursday, they will end the regular season against Randolph. 

Port United 2, Kane 0

PORT ALLEGANY, PA – The Gators defended their home swamp with a clean shutout over Kane.

Aiden Stuckey got Port on the board, drilling a 20-yard goal in the first half to put his team out in front. In the second, Kaiden Bartlett served a direct kick right to Mason Simes, who headed the ball in to pull away by a pair. 

Simes also ended with an assist on the night, while Jimmy Sneed posted his third career shutout as he tended the net.

Girl’s Soccer

Bradford 1, Elk County Catholic 1, Draw

ST. MARYS, PA – Alyssa Mangold staved off the Lady Owls fourth loss of the season, punching in a goal to push the contest with the ECC into a stalemate. 

In goal, Adeline Meyer had five saves.

With the tie, Bradford now sits at 8-3-1 with five games left on the schedule.
