BEMUS POINT, NY – Competing out of a field of 25 teams, three local schools left their mark on the annual Red Dragon Invitational this past Saturday.
Taking to the course as the only team representing Pennsylvania, Bradford managed to make their way into the top ten, making it back in the 5,000-meter run in ninth at a time of 18:17.64. Freshman Charlie Vitelli took 15th at 19:08, with Nikolai Frontino hot on his heels in 17th at 19:22. Xavier Frontino took 23rd (19:39) and Gavin Wiart took 36th (20:43).
In their first meet of the year, the Salamanca boy’s team found their way to a top ten finish with Aiden George leading the way.
George finished first for the Warriors, crossing the finish line 14th overall with a time of 19:39. Denver Parsons crossed two minutes later at 21:25 in 38th place. Curtis Starr came in 52nd (22:31), George Parsons came in 70th (23:35), Jaydon Barton came in 76th (24:08) and Galen Ledsome pulled up the rear in 88th place (33:24). The boy’s team came in seventh overall.
While the girl’s team did not place, they were led by Elliott Merrill in 17th place at 24:26 and Kaylin Lemon in 32nd at 26:14.
The Warriors’ next door neighbors, Olean, also had significant finishes in both heats.
For the girl’s team, the Huskies were carried by a trio of juniors, Rachael Dulmus, Kinley Belleisle and May Eaton. Dulmus finished the 3.1-mile course in tenth overall, crossing the finish line at 21:58, while Belleisle came in 12th at 22:20 and Eaton in 13th at 22:21.
On the other side of the track, the boys were led by Declan Boutillette with a 22nd overall placement with a time of 19:37. Daks Perry, a freshmen, came in not long after at 19:58 for a spot in 27th place while sophomore Cash Clark ended in 47th with a time of 22:15.
