SALAMANCA, NY – Having nine days to recover from their season-opening loss to Eden, the Salamanca girl’s soccer team erupted with a response, defeating Franklinville with a flurry of offense that saw them tally their first Chautauqua Cattaraugus Athletic Association (CCAA) Division II win at 11-0.
While their offense culminated in five goals in the first 40 minutes, the Warriors proved to out-do themselves immediately after, netting six in the next 40 to bury the Panthers in front of their home fans.
Following a one-day hiatus, Salamanca will look to keep the ball rolling with a non-league game against Chautauqua Lake on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Bradford 2, Warren 0
BRADFORD, PA – Carrying the momentum from her seven-goal game this weekend, Alyssa Mangold helped lead the Lady Owls to third win of the season.
Mangold punched in one goal against the Lady Dragons, with Reese Rosendahl matching her with Bradford’s second. Both assists came from Karissa Chamberlain while Adeline Meyer had two saves while in the net.
“It was a very solid performance from the girls tonight. They held a lot of possession and control and we moved the ball very well,” said Bradford head coach Jim Warnick. “The little things are coming together for the team.”
The Lady Owls will rest tomorrow before taking to the road on Saturday for an 11 a.m. showdown with Clearfield.
Port United 4, Brookville 2
PORT ALLEGANY, PA – A deep cast of contributors helped the Lady Gators out-duel Brookville at home.
As she has so far this season, Alyssa Pelchy carried the brunt of Port’s offense, tallying two goals in the win, while Emilee-Rae Yeager and Kylee Pelchy each finished with one a-piece. Along with Kylee Pelchy, Joanna Darush and Alayna Palmer both also recorded assists. Dana Clark tended the net for the Lady Gators, coming away with eight saves.
Port will leave The Swamp this Saturday, traveling to New Bethlehem to face Redbank Valley at 11 a.m.
Fredonia 2, Portville 0
FREDONIA, NY – Seeing defensive lapses in both halves, the Panthers fell to 0-2 on the season at the hands of the Hillbillies.
The loss also comes as Portville’s second in CCAA Division I league play. Next, the Panthers will earn a four-day break before seeing Genesee Valley-Belfast on Monday at 7 p.m. That game will be played on the road.
Allegany-Limestone 1, Pioneer 0
PIONEER, NY – A second-half score carried the Gators to their third-consecutive win of the season.
Up next, A-L will see Frewsburg at home on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Volleyball
Olean 3, Dunkirk 0
DUNKIRK, NY – After suffering their first loss of the season a week ago, the Huskies have earned themselves a spot back in the win column, defeating Dunkirk in a clean sweep.
At 2-1, 1-1 in the CCAA, Olean will have to wait until Tuesday for another taste of action. Then, they will see Falconer on the road at 6:30 p.m.
Randolph 3, Allegany-Limestone 0
ALLEGANY, NY – Facing the undefeated Cardinals, A-L failed to make a dent in their armor, ultimately being swept at home.
Standing at 1-2, and 1-1 in CCAA Division II play, the Gators will look to even out their record during their meeting with Salamanca on Tuesday. That game, which will be played on the road, will start at 6:30 p.m.

NORTH EAST, PA — Facing an early onslaught, the Owls were unable to return home with a win.
Lucas Hinchman scored Bradford’s lone goal of the night.

Salamanca 143, Chautauqua Lake 26
SALAMANCA, NY – On a night that saw the Warriors win in dominating fashion, Salamanca saw a whopping 26 personal bests posted throughout the victory.
Kynleigh Wass posted two wins in the 500 free and 50 free, while Juliana Smith also doubled in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke. Addison Follman (200 free), Lily John (100 free), Ava Chriss (200 IM) and Ella Martens (100 backstroke) all also earned gold in the Warriors win.
Follman and Martens both also posted qualifying times to the Class C Sectional in the 200 free, along with Chriss in the IM and Wass in the 50 and 500 free.
Girl’s Tennis
Olean 5, Jamestown 0
OLEAN, NY – Playing in their first match of the season, the Huskies cleaned up the competition, posting a clean sheet win.
Lina Chauhdry (6-0, 6-0) and Natalie Snyder (6-1, 6-3) both came away with overwhelming wins in the first and second singles, followed by wins in all three doubles matches. Rachael Dulmus and Tiana Maine took care of business in the first, 6-1 and 6-2, Simran Chahal and Molly Burnett in the second, 6-2 and 6-1, and Diyanah Manar and Addie Wright closed out the day in the thirds, winning 6-1 and 6-1.
