Doris Eloise Butinski-loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother

Olean-Doris Eloise Butinski passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 95.  Born in 1930 in Ulysses, Pennsylvania, to William and Kathryn Ritter Blackman. She married her soulmate Edward Butinski on July 7th, 1951.  Doris lived a full and joyful life, one filled with family, friendship and genuine love for the world around her.

A graduate of Olean High School in 1948, she went on to work a 40-year long career at Clark Bros. in Olean, working in various departments before her retirement in 1988.  Along the way she built countless friendships, and that same warmth followed her into every corner of her life.  She simply loved people and people loved her right back.

After the death of her beloved husband in 2004, Doris found countless ways to keep busy.  She filled her time escorting bus trips, volunteering at Olean General Hospital, meeting friends for lunch every day at Burger King, and adopting her grand dog, Zoe.  She was also active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pulaski Club and Rosary Society.

The baker… Always cupcakes, cookies and breads to snack on during your visit.   She was always running a bake sale somewhere.  People loved her white bread.   You would find her sitting on the loveseat every night with a skein of yarn working on a project while watching her favorite old tv shows.  She loved to shop and just go-go-go.  The family coined her “The Energizer Bunny”.

Doris is survived by her children, sons Ronald Butinski, Dennis Butinski and daughter Christina (Allen) Welch of Franklinton, NC; grandchildren, Ian (Elizabeth) Wojcik, Tania (Brett) Merzac, FL, Dylan (Katie) Butinski, Jacob Maine and Christopher Maine of Franklinton, NC, and Katie-Anne (Coty) Olick, Varysburg, NY; great grandchildren, Alex, Kayliegh, Izzabella Wojcik, Porter Ace, Henley Ash and Beau Axel Marzec, Oliver and Aria Olick; niece/daughter Genevieve Blazejewski.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, and nephew/son Robert.

A private graveside service will be held at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.  A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA

Funeral arrangements are under Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St., Olean, NY.
