DUKE CENTER, PA – Three challengers. Three sweeps. Hosting the Lady Tigers to the Terror Dome, the Otto-Eldred volleyball team came away with their third win of the season, beating Galeton in dominating fashion, 25-4, 25-8 and 25-8.
Rayel Hakes held it down in the front line, finishing with three blocks and nine kills, while Remy McDivitt tallied ten digs and Emma Button recorded 22 assists and five kills in the win.
After their second of two games in two days, the Lady Terrors now earn a rest. Their next contest will be on Monday, when they travel to see Oswayo Valley at 7 p.m.
Port Allegany 3, Smethport 0
PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Seeing their second North Tier League opponent of the schedule, the Lady Gators found a second win, beating Smethport 25-18, 25-13 and 25-22.
Jaidyn Mahon led Port with a team-high 12 kills, followed by Addi Taylor and Gianna Glasgow with eight. Molly Barber came away with 16 assists in the win.
Elk County Catholic 3, Bradford 0
ST. MARYS, PA – Heading back out on the road, the Lady Owls were unable to find a way past the Lady Crusaders, losing 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21.
Haley Keane had eight kills and two aces in the loss, followed by Sophia Lama with three aces and four digs.
Boy’s Soccer
Northern Potter 3, Port United 1
ULYSSES, PA – Despite drawing blood first, the Gators were unable to counter NoPo’s response, ultimately dropping their first Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League game of the season.
Port’s Holden Nance opened the action first, scoring within the first 20 minutes of the afternoon. However, before halftime, the Panthers retaliated, evening the game on a cross shot by Jon Crawford. Although they earned a penalty kick in the period, the second half was entirely NoPos. Crawford punched in his second score of the afternoon followed by a win-sealing goal from Owen Daniels in the 72nd minute.
The Gator’s keeper, Jimmy Sneed, ended with five saves in the loss.
At 0-2, Port will enjoy a two-day break before returning to action on Saturday. There, they will play a mid-day matinee at Redbank Valley at 1 p.m.
Fredonia 4, Allegany-Limestone 1
ALLEGANY, NY – Unable to tie on a tourniquet, the Gators inevitably fell to 1-1 on the season.
The Hillbillies got on the board first, scoring in the 19th minute off a goal from Tosh Klein. Although A-L countered, seeing Collin Coleman find the back of the net, they failed to find responses thereafter. In the second half, Fredonia pulled away for good, scoring three more goals in a 12-minute window.
