Nancy J. Kent, 62, of Olean, NY died suddenly at home Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Born May 9, 1964 in Gowanda, NY, she was the daughter of the late George Sr. and Rita Kennedy Silverheels. She was married in Olean to Vincent Kent, who predeceased her in 2006.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Heron Clan.
She had been previously employed as a Cook at the Seneca Allegany Casino and began her career as a Cook in the 80s at the Seneca Hawk in Irving, NY.
Nancy enjoyed being with friends, loved a good rainstorm, playing Bingo, and watching videos of her grandchildren playing sports. Nancy will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Surviving are: a son, Larry (Shatonya) Mohawk, Dayton, OH; three grandsons, Larry Mohawk III, Greensboro, NC, Megail Stevenson, Dayton, OH, Gabriel Stevenson, Dayton, OH; a sister, Amy (Craig) Silverheels-Stevens, Kill Buck, NY; two brothers, George Silverheels Jr., Irving, NY, David (Sumana) Silverheels, Hamburg, NY; several aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Jimerson, and two brothers, Thomas Silverheels and John Silverheels.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 9 – 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Speakers of the Coldspring Longhouse officiating.
Burial will be in the Seneca Nation of Indians Cemetery, Irving, NY.
