MONDAY ROUNDUP: Kite’s nine strikeouts paces Olean in shutout win over Niagara; Randy’s scores three wins in OWSL

OLEAN, NY — Henry Kite set the Olean Oilers up for success and Denny Martin sealed the deal.

In a low scoring affair, the Oilers tallied a 3-0 victory over the Niagara Ironbacks much in part thanks to a superb 6.0 inning showing on the mound from Kite, a freshman from William & Mary.

Striking out nine batters and giving up just three hits — two of which came in the first frame — in his first start for the team this season, Kite set the tone early.

But so too did Ironbacks starter Cal Noonan, who battled Kite, going 6.2 innings and giving up just four hits — the only ones the Oilers would connect for on the night.

But Olean managed to do more with their hits. The most significant of which being the double Martin recorded that scored two in bottom of the seventh, putting the result on ice.

Angee’s 11, Halfway Inn 3

OLEAN, NY — Betty McNabb led Angee’s in one of its two wins on the day, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.

Julia Moffatt (2 RBI) and Leslie Nasuta (RBI) added 3-for-4 performances while Sophia Aiello (2 RBI), JoJo Gibbons and Kristiana O’Connell (2 RBI) went 2-for-4. Hannah Lathrop tacked on a two-RBI triple as well.

Emily Horth was credited with an RBI on her 2-for-3 game for Halfway Inn

Randy’s 26, Misfits 0 (4 innings)

OLEAN, NY — Nicole Calbi and Jaleesa Ard-Sledge each went 4-for-4 to lead Randy’s to a lopsided win over Misfits.

Jess Weinman, Bryn Milne and Kori McManus recorded three hits apiece in the win as well while Amy Campbell, Kaelyn Arnold and Jill Slawiak each connected for two hits.

Angee’s 20, Shamrocks 3 (4 innings)

OLEAN, NY — Scoring 16 runs in the first two innings set up Angee’s for a lopsided win over Shamrocks.

JoJo Gibbons (3 RBI) and Betty McNabb (2 RBI) shined in the win, going 3-for-3. Hannah Lathrop (2 RBI) and Mackenzie Gnan (3 RBI) each went 2-for-2 and Sophia Aiello and Sophia Fratercangelo (2 RBI) went 2-for-3.

Liz Bell went 2-for-2 for Shamrocks.

McKan Trucking 15, Allen’s 6

OLEAN, NY — After falling behind 6-0 after the top  of the first inning, McKan Trucking scored 15 unanswered runs to secure victory.

Karly Welty led the way in the win, going 4-for-5 with a home run. Amber Nelson and Teagan Kosinski added 2-for-4 performances.

Peyton Young went 2-for-4 with a home run and Makenna Manning went 3-for-3 in the loss.

Randy’s 15, Bamboo Strategy 0 (4 innings)

OLEAN, NY — Jaleesa Ard-Sledge led Randy’s to a shutout win, going 4-for-4 at the plate.

Kayla Shoemaker and Nicole Calbi (HR) recorded three hits apiece in the win as well. Kim Clayton and Jess Weinman added two hits to the cause.

Randy’s 24, Shamrocks 0 (4 innings)

OLEAN, NY — An 11-run second inning highlighted Randy’s lopsided win over Shamrocks.

Nicole Calbi recorded five RBI on three hits to lead the victors. Tierney Hemphill and Bryn Miller tallied three hits apiece while Kaelyn Arnold, Kayla Shoemaker, Kim Clayton and Torri Johnson each accounted for two hits.

Ice Cold Pitches 22, Misfits 3 (6 innings)

OLEAN, NY — Home runs from Ashley Erskine and Michelle Cisco highlighted Ice Cold Pitches’ win over Misfits.

Erskine (4-for-4), Cisco (3-for-3), Liz Owens (3-for-3) and Torey Cassidy (2-for-2) each had perfect days at the plate. Brandi Buttino, Bree Garzel and Lacey Cassidy each went 3-for-4 while Erin Bell and Robin Berlin-Hilliard went 2-for-3 in the win as well.

Katie Kindt and Courtney Deboy each went 3-for-3 in the loss. Lezly McComber picked up a home run and Miranda Bova went 2-for-3 for Misfits as well.

Halfway Inn 17, KSW Photography 4 (5 innings)

OLEAN, NY —  An 11-run inning for Halfway Inn was just about all that separated it from KSW Photography in its lopsided win.

Faith Capito led the winning effort with a team-high three hits. Grace Wood (2 doubles), Emily Horth and Harley Ficek each added two hits.

Mandy Martin, Candy Cooper and Lily Bushnell each had two hits in the loss.

Bamboo Strategy 15, Hangry Pitches 3

OLEAN, NY — Paige Gordnier led Bamboo Strategy to a win over Hangry Pitches with a 4-for-4 performance.

Grace Rostzye also had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3. Kimmy Martinelli, Shannon Detweiler, Cas Mills, Amie Brabham, Sheri Ensell and Alyssa Johnson each went 3-for-4.

Meghan Hollenbeck (3-for-3) and Misty Antolioni (2-for-2) were perfect at the plate in the loss.
