ST. CATHARINES, ON — After falling behind early and recording just one hit through the first four innings, four runs in the middle frames had the Olean Oilers hoping they had flipped the script.
Unfortunately for the visitors to George Taylor Field, their lead was short-lived as the Niagara Ironbacks roared back with six runs in the bottom of the sixth.
With Olean unable to conjure up any late magic, Niagara took the contest by a 7-4 scoreline.
The Oilers offense put up double figures in the hit column, but also left a double digit number of runners stranded on the basepaths in the loss.
Brayden Rader (2-for-3, run, RBI), Logan Koslin (2-for-4, run, RBI), Anthony Radice (2-for-4, run, RBI) and Aidan Willard (2-for-4, run) led the Oilers’ bats.
Carrick Ryan ultimately picked up the loss while on the mound for Olean, but through 5.2 frames he racked up five of his team’s six total strikeouts.
