ALLEGANY — Allegany Old Home Days returned to Fireman’s Park Wednesday for a four-night run.
Knox Great American Midway is providing amusement rides, games of skill and carnival food.
Last year, Old Home Days was limited to one community day event after efforts to hire a midway fell through. It’s back this year, however.
On Chief’s Night Wednesday, area fire companies brought fire apparatus for display, kicking off the four-night run.
Tonight (Thursday), several area fire companies are expected to participate in the water fights. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the fights start at 6 o’clock.
The rides and midway are open from 6 to 11 o’clock tonight and 6 to midnight on Friday. Wristbands are on sale for $30 for unlimited rides each session.
There will be a kids matinee Saturday from 1-5 p.m. and the midway will reopen from 6 p.m., to midnight. Bands are performing Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Kiddies parade lineup at the Allegany Post Office on North Fifth Street starts at 5:30 and kicks off down Main Street at 6 o’clock, marching to the fire hall on North First Street where treats will be available.
The midway opens at 1 p.m., with wristbands available for purchase for unlimited rides.
The Old Home Days Grand Parade starts at 6 p.m. on East Main Street across from St. Bonaventure Church. Lineup starts at 5:30 along East Main Street.
The Allegany Fire Department’s Cook Tent and Beer Tent will be open every night at 60’clock. It will be closed from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, but the Cook Tent will be open.
