OLEAN — This past weekend, Olean High School officially inducted Patrick Scholla, Eric Hoffman and Molly McKeown (Wren) into its Athletic Wall of Fame.
Below are the backgrounds of each inductee as were provided to the Olean Star.
Patrick Scholla
Class of 2013
John Carroll University – 2017
Grace College – 2022
Outstanding three‑sport athlete, team captain, and honor roll student, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball, earning nine varsity letters. Named the Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2013. A three-year starter on the varsity football team securing individual and team honors including Section VI League first team all-star, playing in the Big 30 All-Star game. Three-year varsity basketball floor leader who started on teams advancing to the Far West Regional and State Final Four, helping establish a team-first philosophy and earning multiple defensive awards. Played four years of varsity baseball, earning CCAA first and second team all-star recognition and the Sportsmanship Award in 2013. Attended John Carroll University earning a B.A. in Physical Education in 2017. A four-year member and senior captain of the JCU baseball team, earning an OAC Conference Championship ring and three-year member of the JCU Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Spent college summers playing baseball for the New York Collegiate Baseball League Olean Oilers and Wellsville Nitros. Went on to earn a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Grace College in 2022. Currently serves as a physical education/health teacher, JV Golf Coach, and Varsity Baseball Coach at Avon Local School District in Avon, Ohio, receiving multiple conference and county Coach of the Year honors in 2022 and 2024, and working to promote an athletic culture of commitment and ethics. He joins his father, Don and sister, Molly on the OHS Athletic Wall of Fame.

A standout three-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and golf, Eric Hoffman earned twelve varsity letters during an exceptional career at Olean High School. In football, he was a starting linebacker on the 1994 and 1995 teams that advanced to sectional championship games at Rich Stadium and was later named to the Big 30 All-Star Defensive Team. In wrestling, he was ranked No. 1 in the Western New York Wrestling Review in 1996. In golf, he was OHS’s top player for four years and compiled a 103–1 career record.
Beyond athletics, Hoffman served as class vice president and earned honor roll recognition throughout high school. He later returned to Olean High School to serve as assistant varsity wrestling coach during the 2004–2005 season.
Hoffman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1999 and served until completing his enlistment. He then earned his degree from St. Bonaventure University before returning to the Corps as a commissioned officer. Over the next two decades, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and built a career in aviation logistics that took him from squadron command to assignments supporting national leadership. He commanded both Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron 1 (MATSS-1) and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 and served as Aviation Supply Officer for Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) and Associate White House Liaison Officer. He currently serves as a Branch Head at Training and Education Command in Quantico, VA.
Molly McKeown (Wren)

D’Youville University – 2013
A standout athlete in soccer and basketball. On the soccer field, earned four varsity letters and was named a CCAA Division 1 First Team All-Star from 2002-2005. Recognized during her senior season as the CCAA Division I MVP, earned Big 30 Co- MVP honors, and selected to the inaugural Big 30 Soccer All-Star Team. Secured a position on the Division I soccer team at Niagara University and earned recognition on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team throughout her collegiate career from 2006–2010. On the basketball court, was the starting guard for the 2006 team that won the Section VI Class A crown and advanced to the Far West Regional. Excelled academically at OHS, as a member of the National Honor Society and earned the Buffalo News All-Western NY Scholar Athlete award and the OHS Distinguished Service Award. Went on to earn a doctorate in physical therapy from D’Youville University and currently serves as a physical therapist for Kaleida Heath.
