Valerie G. “Beanie” Brundage, 79, left this Earth on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Olean General Hospital with her family by her side.
Born June 29, 1946 in Salamanca, she was a daughter of the late James D. and Genevieve A. Chamberlain Griffith.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1964.
She was married July 23, 1966 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church to James M. Brundage, who predeceased her on October 1, 2010.
Beanie was a faithful communicant of the former St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Guild and Choir, serving for many years in those capacities. She enjoyed going out to eat with family, NY Yankees baseball, Buffalo Bills football, and watching her grandchildren’s sporting and academic careers. She was especially proud of her four grandchildren, and that all four were the Valedictorian of their graduating classes at Salamanca High School.
She is survived by one son, Steven (Sandra) Brundage of Salamanca; two daughters, Susan (Darryn) Fiske and Shelley (Greg) Herrick, both of Salamanca; two granddaughters, Emma (Dylan Wheeler) Fiske and Alicia Fiske, both of Salamanca; two grandsons, Andrew Herrick and Jacob Herrick, both of Salamanca; three sisters, Dona Clark of Dothan, AL, Patricia (Ron Simmons) Cragg of Webster, NY, Lynn (Brad) Harrington of Salamanca; three brothers, James Griffith of Salamanca, Michael (Karen) Griffith of Olean, Daniel Griffith of Salamanca; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Kenneth N. Clark and George Cragg, a nephew, Kenneth G. Clark, and a niece, Kelly Witter.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4 – 7 p.m.
An Episcopal Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad Street, Salamanca on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Rebecca Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
