SMETHPORT, PA – In her first taste of the 2026 action, Bria Wilcox opened her sophomore season with a no-hitter, dominating from the circle as she led the Port Allegany softball team to a season-opening 12-2 win over Smethport.

Through the first two frames, no Lady Hubber could touch anything Wilcox was firing down range as she collected five strikeouts through the first six batters. Meanwhile, the Lady Gators’ own bats erupted early. After Alyssa Taylor opened the day with a lead-off double, she was swiftly brought around home plate one batter later as Mady Errick cracked a hard hit ball down the third baseline. With the tone set early, Port would go on to tally six runs in the opening frame.

Despite allowing another two runs in the top of the second, Smethport eventually found a response in the bottom of the third. With two outs and Payten Lenze on second, the Lady Hubbers brought two runs in by capitalizing on back-to-back Lady Gator errors. Any momentum mustered, however, faded away soon after.

Looking to satisfy the mercy rule, Port again caught fire at the plate in the fourth. Scoring on an error, RBI singles from Bria Wilcox and Jaidyn Mahon and a fielder’s choice put in play by Tanner, the Lady Gators quickly built up a double-digit lead before sealing the first victory of the season with six outs in the next seven batters.

Refusing to allow a single hit through five innings, Wilcox ended her first stay in the circle with 11 Ks and just one walk. At the plate, she finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Gianna Glasgow ended with one hit in three trips to the batters’ box, scoring three runs herself and batting one more in while Tanner ended 1-for-4 with one run scored.

For Smethport, Jasmine Miller tallied two strikeouts while in the circle while Cassidy Szuba and Lenze both scored.

SMETHPORT, PA – Scoring three or more runs in all but one frame, the Gators demolished the Hubbers as they began their season with a resounding win.

Capitalizing on Smethport’s early errors, Port quickly put men on base before churning out trips around home plate. After pulling away by seven after the first two frames, Port put on another four in the fourth before exploding for 10 in the fifth and final.

Nick Wilfong led the Gators at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs scored and four more batted in. Chase Boyd also had four RBIs, ending 2-for-4 with two runs scored personally, while Aiden Bliss produced a 1-for-2 day at the plate that included four runs and three RBIs. Wilfong also took the win on the mound, six strikeouts and allowing no hits.

ELDRED, PA – In a rain-shortened contest, constant errors proved too much for the Terrors to withstand as they dropped their first North Tier League game of the season.
