July 17, 1973 – March 7, 2026
With heavy hearts, we share that Max Ling, 52, began his journey to the Spirit World and returned to the Creator on March 7, 2026.
Max was born July 17, 1973 in Olean, NY, to Crawford “Jim” and Rosalie Harris Ling. He spent much of his life in Salamanca, NY, the place he called home and where many of his memories were made. He spent many of his teenage years at 44 Seneca Street, building friendships and connections that would remain with him throughout his life. In recent years, he lived at 29 Wilson Street.
Max carried a strong spirit and a playful heart. He loved music, laughter, and the simple joy of being among the people he cared about. He had a way of joking with others and lifting the mood in a room, and those who knew him will remember the warmth of his presence and the loyalty he showed to his family and friends.
Above all things, Max’s children were the center of his world and his greatest pride. He loved them deeply and carried that love in everything he did. Through the friendships he built and the family he cherished, Max’s life touched many people, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in the stories and laughter shared amongst those who knew him.
Max is survived by his loving wife, Randi Ling; his children, Garek Hass, Devin Ling, Jon Ling, Jacob Ling, and Kaleb Ling; his stepchildren, Alexander Woodard, Tyler Woodard, Zackery Kelly, Hayden Kelly, and Onnalee Kelly; many grandchildren; his sister, Rhonda Stone; and his brother, Steve Harris.
He is welcomed into the Spirit World by those who walked on before him: his parents, Jim and Rosalie Ling; his first wife, Alicia Ling; his brother, Marc Gould; and his sisters, Melissa Gould and Amy Lerke.
Though his footsteps are no longer beside us on this earth, his spirit continues its journey, walking the path of those who came before him. Travel safely on your journey, Max. May the Creator guide your steps as you follow the ancestors, until the day our paths cross again.
In keeping with his heritage and the traditions of his people, Max will be honored with Longhouse graveside services in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, NY on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11a.m. with members of the Coldspring Longhouse officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
