John David Maxson, Loving Son, Brother, and Friend

Portville- John David Maxson, formerly of Portville, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, after a short illness with his loving family by his side.

Born in Westons Mills on October 27, 1937, the son of the late Braton and Pauline Daughtery Maxson.

John graduated from Portville Central School in 1956 and then worked for PCS as a custodian for 25 years. After retiring, he volunteered at PCS for twenty years. The administration and students loved him, and he loved them. He also loved listening to country music.

John is survived by his sisters, Martha Jean Kemsley, and Patricia Wilkins, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Braton and Pauline, and a brother, Carl Maxson.

Family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 2 – 3 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville, with a funeral service starting at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the East Portville Cemetery in Portville.
