TUESDAY ROUNDUP: Salamanca gets back to winning ways against A-L; Bradford, Portville girls mark blowout wins at home

SALAMANCA, NY – By means of a full aerial assault, the Salamanca boys basketball team completed a season sweep over Allegany-Limestone.

Only up by three at the half, the Warriors used a strong second half to pull away and grab a 58-44 win over the Gators.

Calum Farnum led Salamanca’s barrage from 3-point range, draining three 3s on the night. Payton Bradley and Dominick Hill knocked down two 3s apiece as well with Carlton Farmer adding one 3 to the tally.

A-L did its best to keep up but there was little scoring outside of Ryan Callen’s game-high 17 points and Nolan O’Brien’s 15 points.

GALETON, PA – Led their men in the middle, the Terrors picked up a blow out league win on the road. 

Jack Sherry led all scorers on the night with 15 points, also pulling down eight rebounds, while Wyatt Blendinger came away with 14 points in the win. Knocking down a pair of triples, Mason Rees ended with seven points alongside five assists.

Olean 60, Falconer 45

OLEAN, NY – Joe Mest was a man on fire for the Olean boys basketball team, draining seven 3-pointers and pacing the Huskies in their win over Falconer.

Mest finished with a game-high 23 points. Dominik Myers had the second-highest tally for Olean, netting nine points. Mykel Rivera chipped in eight as well.

Max Parmentier led the Golden Falcons with 16 points in the loss.

SMETHPORT, PA – Finding themselves in a hole early, the Hubbers were unable to amass a comeback as they fell at home to the Panthers. 

Colin Okerlund led all scorers with 18 points, hitting four 3-pointers along the way, while Ethan Walker, who hit two triples, finished with six points.

SILVER CREEK, NY – Aidan DeFazio was unconscious from 3-point range as he led Portville to a comfortable win with a 33-point performance.

DeFazio sank eight 3-pointers in the win. Peyton Carter was the only other member of the Panthers to finish with double figures in the score column as he tallied 10 on the night.

“Tonight was a great team win both offensively and defensively,” Portville coach Dylan Burton said. “I was very proud of our effort. It is tough to ride on a bus for two hours and then show up to play but these boys did exactly what I asked.”

BRADFORD, PA – Led by Haley Keane’s 16 points, the Lady Owls pulled out a big win in front of their home fans. 

Alongside Keane was Shavia Long and Cami Sheeley, who both scored six points, while Maranda Davis ended with four.

PORTVILLE, NY – Building an early lead with exceptional shooting from beyond the arc, the Panthers improved to 9-5 on the season with a 18-point win over Franklinville.

Five Panthers connected on long distance shots during the win, including two from Quinn Scott who finished with a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds. Emma Rhinehart also hit two 3-pointers, scoring nine points, four steals and five assists while Emily Scanlon finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
