Susan Y. Poling Haines, 60, of Salamanca, NY, died Monday morning, January 26, 2026 at UPMC Pittsburgh, following a short illness.
Born October 2, 1965 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of Virgle (Sandra) Poling of Gifford, PA, and the late Evelene “Sue” Lambert Poling. She was married May 21, 1988 in Salamanca, NY to Douglas D. Haines Jr., who survives.
She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1983.
She had been employed as a school bus driver with the Salamanca Central School District for over 20 years, retiring in June 2023. Previously, she had been employed with Cattaraugus County Bank.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends by the pool and going to Rushford Lake with her family. She loved to have fun, playing rummy, having movie nights, playing in a cornhole league, and attempting to bowl and golf.
Surviving besides her husband and father are: a daughter, Sydnee Haines; 2 sons, Trent Haines and Dylan (Rachael Ferguson) Haines; 2 grandchildren, Paisley Haines and Tanner Haines, all of Salamanca; 3 sisters, Malesia (Ronald) Hill, Little Valley, NY, Malinda (Wendell) Haines, Salamanca, NY, Lari (Russell) Granger, Vail, NC; her dog, Stella; special cousin, Mary Owens, Salamanca, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Shawn Poling, and a nephew, Chad Skoken.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St. Salamanca, NY on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 1 – 3 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held.
