Like half of the country, Cattaraugus County is in line for another wintry blast of cold, snowy weather Sunday into Monday.
The National Weather Service’s Buffalo office has issued a winter storm warning effective from 1 a.m. Sunday until 7 p.m. Monday for Cattaraugus, Allegany, Chautauqua and southern Erie counties.
Snowfall across Cattaraugus County could vary from 8-14 inches.
The snow will be accompanied by dangerously low temperatures. The wind chill in Allegany Saturday morning was minus 24.
The Weather Service said the widespread accumulation of snow will create dangerous travel conditions from early Sunday through the commute home on Monday.

“Travel will be very difficult,” Saturday’s NWS statement said. “Consider delaying travel. If you must travel, drive with extreme caution. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
The weather statement added: “Avoid sudden braking and acceleration and be especially cautious on the hills or when making turns.”
Saturday’s high in Olean was forecast to be 10 degrees. By noon it was 1 degree above zero. Up to an inch of snow is possible in Olean through Saturday. Another 10 inches are predicted for Sunday.
