MONDAY ROUNDUP: Bradford girls fall to DCC on the road; Smethport, A-L boys continue to struggle

DUBOIS, PA – Despite finding their stride late, the Bradford girl’s basketball team were unable to close the gap on the scoreboard, ultimately falling 48-35 to DuBois Central Catholic. 

After scoring just nine points in the first two quarters, the Lady Owls sprang into action out of the halftime intermission. Over the next two quarters narrowly outscored their opponents, but were unable to subdue the Lady Cardinals. 

Bradford’s scoring in the second half fell upon Haley Keane’s shoulders, who scored 11 in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth, on her way to a game-high 23 points. Cami Sheeley contributed seven points during the loss, while Olivia Funk ended with four points.

PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Taking a break from their North Tier League schedule, the Lady Gators grabbed their seventh win of the season behind a complete performance from their stars. 

Jenna Renner led Port in scoring with 12 points and six rebounds while Brynn Evens had eight points, nine rebounds, four steals and four blocks. Joana Darush had six points, also chipping in five rebounds, four blocks, three assists and three steals. 

With the win, the Lady Gators improve to 7-5 overall.

ALLEGANY, NY – Despite Nolan O’Brien and Ryan Callen combining for 30 points, the Gators fell to 2-8 with a blowout loss at home.

Connecting on four shots from long range, O’Brien ended with 20 points while Callen, who hit a pair of triples himself, ended with ten points in the loss.

A-L now enjoys two days of rest before taking on Dunkirk on Thursday. That game will be played on the road and is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
