THURSDAY ROUNDUP: Otto-Eldred cruises to sixth NTL win; DeFazio’s 20-points lifts Portville to 2-0 in league play

COUDERSPORT, PA – Led by a trio of Lady Terrors, the Otto-Eldred girl’s basketball team dominated their way to a sixth North Tier League win of the season, beating Coudersport 49-28 on the road.

Baylee Francis led all scorers with 16, also tallying seven rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Rayel Hakes finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and there steals. Ayla Van Scoter also had nine rebounds, but led O-E on the defensive side of the court with four steals alongside her 12 points and four assists.

Port Allegany 42, Northern Potter 37

PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Capitalizing on 14 fourth-quarter free throws, the Lady Gators improved to 5-1 in NTL play, downing NoPo behind Peyton Gordon’s 19 points. 

Alongside her steady scoring through all four quarters, Gordon also came away with 11 rebounds and four assists, followed by Brynn Evens, who also posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Evens also ended with three blocks and four assists.

Smethport 39, Galeton 12

SMETHPORT, PA – Led by the duo of Madey McKean and Payton Neff, Smethport dominated the Lady Tigers.

Combining for 24 of the Lady Hubber’s 26 first-half points, McKean racked up 18 points, six rebounds and three steals while Neff recorded 12 points, six assists and four steals. Mariah Tanner had five steals and six rebounds.

GENESEE, NY – The Olean girls basketball team put an end to its three-game losing streak with a narrow, come-from-behind victory over Genesee Valley-Belfast.

The Huskies scored 17 points in the fourth quarter all while holding GV/BC to just four to complete the comeback.

SALAMANCA, NY – The Salamanca boys basketball team suffered a lopsided loss at home behind a pair of 18-point performers from Fredonia.

Colin Luce and RJ Koopman led the Hillbillies with 18 points apiece in the win. Graham Putney and Donovan Dowdy added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win as well.

The Warriors were without a double-figure scorer on the night. They were led by Payton Bradley and Dominick Hill who each scored nine points.

PORTVILLE, NY – Behind a 12-point second half from Aidan DeFazio, the Portville boys basketball team cruised to a win over Silver Creek.

DeFazio’s 12 points were part of a 20-point performance that paced the Panthers as they moved to 2-0 in CCAA Div. III play this season. Supporting DeFazio, Peyton Carter and Zach Green scored 10 points apiece.

Taydence Stevens led Silver Creek with 10 points.
