Olean- Gary “Butch” Hanson Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital after a short illness, with loving family by his side.
Butch was born on August 16, 1960, in Bradford, PA., the son of the late Marjorie Hanson Langs.
He attended Olean High School and worked as a laborer for several construction companies over the years. Over the years, he was a member of many motorcycle clubs and loved to ride. Butch was also a member of the Olean American Legion.
Butch is survived by his brother, Donald Hanson of Louisiana, and a sister, Patti Page Buchanan of Olean; nieces and nephews, Jessica Hanson of Allegany, Richard (Erin) Truman of Clearance, Brandon (Madison) Cassidy of Hinsdale, Zacary (Jackie) Everitt of Olean, Timothy (Stacey) Hanson of Portville, Bruce Hanson of Olean, Nathan (Crystal) Hanson of Olean; and several great nieces and great nephews, including a special great niece, that he called “Shabops” Myshayla Page from California. She was especially close to her uncle.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie, his stepfather, John Langs, and a brother, Timothy Hanson Sr.
A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
